A Meeting with YSU Scientists
On February 7, during the advanced sitting of the YSU academic council, the chairman of the RA State Committee of Science of the Ministry of Education and Science made a report on “The Programmes and Funding of the Scientific and Scientific-technological Field in Armenia”.
First, the chairman of the Committee presented the objectives and problems of the activities of the State Committee of Science, as well as the main reforms in the scientific area. He specifically addressed the questions of the increase of the scientific share and allocation in the RA state budget. Mr Harutyunyan also presented the scientific and scientific-technological project expertise and funding systems in the RA, the industry personnel, the international cooperation in the scientific field. The country’s current expertise system of scientific projects has been specifically addressed. During the meeting, which lasted about 3 hours, questions concerning
the privacy of experts and committee members, expertise procedure, low wages of researchers, as well as some features of contest procedures were raised. The chairman of the Committee answered all the questions addressed, however, several questions remained unasked, in anticipation of being raised during other meetings.
Mr. Harutyunyan mentioned that he was and remains academic and is always ready for open and broad discussions with his partners: “The State Committee of Science is trying to work transparently, and we accept and are ready to use any recommendation that can contribute to performance improvement”, said the chairman of the Committee.
