New Memorandum in the frameworks of the EEU
On April 13-15, the Chairman of the RA MES State Committee of Science, Samvel Haroutiunian, attended the meeting of the Ministers of education and science of the EEU member countries in the framework of the Moscow International Salon of Education. The Armenian delegation was headed by the RA Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan.
The meeting agenda included the issues concerning the development of cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovation within the Eurasian region, preparation of highly qualified personnel in the field of education, as well as the signing of the relevant memorandum.
In their speeches, the Ministers attached great importance to the enhancement of structured relations between the educational and scientific and technological organizations of the EEU member states. In view of organizing and efficiently implementing joint educational and scientific events, the participants of the meeting agreed on the necessity of establishing advisory bodies (within May 15) for the fields of higher education and scientific research in the scope of mutual interests of the EEU member states. The advisory body in the field of scientific research will be headed by the chairman of the State Committee of Science Samvel Haroutiunian. The necessity of a draft road map was also highlighted, aimed at fostering the preparation of high-quality personnel and enhancing cooperation on the implementation of activities in the sphere of research, experimental development and technology. The areas and mechanisms of cooperation were also discussed during the meeting.
One of the main issues of the meeting was the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of the Eurasian Network University, which had been previously signed at M. Lomonosov Moscow State University in the framework of the Council Meeting of the Eurasian Association of Universities. It was suggested that a consortium of European Network University should be formed, which would include representatives from leading universities and organizations. Each country will have its financial contribution to the European Network University.
As a result of the meeting of the Ministers of education and science of the EEU member countries, a memorandum on “Cooperation in the Sphere of Education, Science and Technology within the Eurasian Region” was signed. The document envisages the strengthening of inter-university relations among the EEU member states, as well as the implementation of joint research and network cooperation. The memorandum was signed by the RA Minister of Education and Science L. Mkrtchyan.
